Greetings!!


When we meet someone for the first time / we dont know :

Greetings:

Hello, pleased to meet you.
Hey, what's your name?
How do you do?
Good morning/ afternoon/ evening

Meeting someone you know:

Greetings:

Hello.../hi there.../hi
Good/ nice to see you again.
I am glad/happy/ pleased to see you.
Good morning/ afternoon/ evening

After the greeting:

How are you? - Fine, thanks. and you?/ not too bad.
How have you been? - Very well. And you?
How are things? - Not too bad, thanks.
Are you alright? - I am tired/ exhausted.
What's wrong with you? - I have got cold.
How's school/ work? - Fine, thanks.
How is life? - Its fit as a fiddle/ not bad.
how is life treating you? - very well, thanks.
What's up? - nothing much.

Greetings on social occasions:

Good luck with the exams.
Have a great time.
Have a good / wonderful weekend.
Hope you enjoy yourself.

Explaination:

Hello: The most common greeting, used when meeting someone for the first time that day.
Good morning: Used only in the morning (before noon).
Good afternoon : This greeting is used between noon and 5pm.
Good evening : This greeting is used after 5pm.
Hi : Informal greeting.
How do you do?: It’s a normal greeting as “hello”
